This is just a brief about us for Todmorden Badminton Club. We have been playing at the Sports Centre on Ewood Lane since it opened in 2000, and for many years prior to that in venues around the town.

The club prides itself on maintaining a friendly, sociable and competitive environment for badminton players with some experience of the game.

Club nights take place between 8 and 10pm both Wednesday each Friday. As of April 2018, we have introduced a new membership system. Level 1 membership is £220 and no subs to pay, level 2 is £20 per month & no subs to pay & finally part-time which is £30 & £5 per session. Juniors is £30 & £3 subs unless they are playing league then it’s half league fee (£110 & no subs.). Non-members are charged £8 per session. Your first visit is free.

The club plays to the new scoring system of 21 with plastic shuttles.

In 2006 Todmorden joined the Nelson and District Badminton Club, joining more established competitive clubs such as Burnley, Towneley, Nelson College & West Craven.

Initially, the club fielded a men’s team which won promotion from Division 2 in its first season in 2006-7.

In 2009-10 the club fielded a mixed team for the first time which won the Division 2 league and Sherratt Cup double. In 2010-11 the mixed team won the Division 1 league and Pollard Cup double. The Men’s A and B teams were runners-up in Division 1 and 2 respectively, the Men’s team going on to win the cup in 2012. A totally different men’s team came second 2014.

In 2011-12 the club has fielded a team in the ladies’ league for the first time.

The club also sends members to compete in the annual handicapped NDBL end-of-season tournament.

We are always on the lookout for new members, so if you fancy playing badminton & getting to know like-minded people come on down.
