As the title says, good luck to the team going to it's first away game against GHAP B on Monday. Hopefully after the first two games the team will get the win & make it a habit.

#### [Win Proving Elusive](https://todmordenbadmintonclub.co.uk/news/win-proving-elusive/)

In our second home match, we were so close to a win, but in the end had to settle for a draw. Some hard fought matches with Bobby being the standout player of the evening winning 5 of his 6 games despite having a dreaded lurgy. Other notables were Wahad making it on time to…

#### [Match Report – Home Opener](https://todmordenbadmintonclub.co.uk/news/match-report-home-opener/)

Unfortunately, Tod started the season in the opposite fashion to what they wanted with a 6-12 opening loss. A bad start with Wahad turning up late didn't help, and with the team being a new mix it seems to have taken them a while to get into the match, early games being lost 6 points…

## Current Players

Keeping the club going strong

### Bobby "The Ex Cap'n" Fielden

Plays hard, parties harder!

### Sandra "Squeeker" Simpson

Can shatter glass if she misses a shot with her mighty squeek!

### Simon "Random" Cave

From the sublime to the abysmal in two shots.

### Mike " Oldest Swinger in Town" Kaye

Don't trip over the zimmer!

### Mark "Reactions" Whitehead

Hard to hit with the shuttle!

### James "Lightening" Tapp

The Gurner! And going forward the captain of the the Team.

### Dan "MINE" Tapp

Dan will always let you know if you are not supposed to be in his way!

### Rehan "Playa" Mohammed

The future, Manni's little brother, coming on in leaps & bounds.

### Armaan "Manni" Mohammed

Nicest guy you'll meet, but will punish you on the court.

### Amjid "how much?" Muhammed

If you hear some squeaking that will be Amjid looking in his tight pockets for his subs!

### Mark "Pharmacy" Webster

Only the miracle of modern medicine keeps this guy playing!

### Wahad "Smoke Ya" Choudhury

If his ability matched his swagger, he'd be off the charts skill wise! Always up for a game and has come on so much.

### Connor "Bad Habits" Jowitt

Someone who isn't content with how hard badminton is, works extremely hard to make it far more difficult!

### Ziggy "Chill" Altama

Come a long way since he started. Has great taste in music too! (you know who I mean Ziggy!)

### James "Yakkety Yak" Bowen

Just glad James lets his playing do the talking!

### Phil " The Great Dictator" Glister

Possibly the greatest thing to ever happen to Todmorden Badminton Club ever & modest to boot!

### Mohammed "Zaf" Zarafat

Big guy, still plays better than Connor & he's got some eyesight issues!

### Nauman "Laces" Hayee

If he isn't disappearing for 5 or 6 weeks at a time, or playing cricket, he's here fastening his shoe laces at the most inappropriate times!

### Emily "Determined" Simpson

From the get go Emily has always been far more competitive than she appears, never drop your guard!

### Haki "Dorian" Tan

It‘s rumored he’s well over a hundred, BUT never seems to look over 30 (well, 31!). A-team player, who is able to play an all-round game & has a steely determination to win. Off-court is really rather pleasant.

### Hayley "Splash" Gould

A new addition who without fail, manages to lose with "The Great Dictator" if he's having a good night! Don't go out on the water with her!

### Hammad "Chapati Kid" Choudhury

Coming back from a serious injury/illness, he's as loud as ever! May take a while to get going again but still good to have him back.

### Ted "Teddy" Clayton

Just arrived, a pal of Oliver & looks like he has some real potential. Just gotta stop going back when serving short!

### Bush "Casual" Aggarual

Comes in, does the business, leaves! All done in the most pleasant manner.

### Oliver "Big Lad" Nugent

A giant with reach, one step has the court covered in all directions! Hopefully picking up lots of tips to build for the future!

## Past Players

Great memories & the reason why we have a club.

### Alan "Tod Rules" Shaw

Previous Dictator & famous for the cross court backhand that you could get an easy point from!

### Phil "Chill" Howitt

Always relaxed & easy to play with, Sandra's favorite mixed partner.

### Stuart "Serve Fluffer" Horsfall

Great player till he meets the great dictator & Matt Shackleton in competition then he just falls apart!

### Barry "Screecher" Mills

One more game, his enthusiasm was only matched by the high pitched squeal when a shot when wrong (more often than he wanted!)!.

### Paul "Complicated" Hackett

Often used way more complex shots than needed, with the result of a loss of a point but great when they worked!

### Richard "Skills" Hollows

Looked so casual, but only because he was always in the right position & had the perfect shot.

### John "Racket Wrecker" Appleby

John was good at throwing his racket, but not so good at catching it hence the large turnover in rackets!

### Ian "SANTA" Miller

Looked like he worked one day a year & butter wouldn't melt, but he was a competitor, with a very memorable charge with roar to the net!

### Raj "PLAYA" Mandunuri

Came & showed us how badminton should be played, great temperament, but even he was rattled by The Great Dictators banter!

### Elliot " The Contortionist" Meek

Was able to tie himself in knots to get a shot, really nice guy, shame he had to leave.

### RIchard "Whoosh" Meek

The whoosh coming from the shot that, if it had actually hit the shuttle , would have been brilliant, his infrequency of play got the better of him.

### Gareth "Lightening" Lomax

So fast, he hit the shot before the shuttle arrived! Covered the court in less than a second without any real need to!

### Aaron "Big Ron" Terry Davis

The irony is just as he got good he left! Big Ron, always providing entertainment & the original Mr Inconsistent (Position now filled by Simon Cave), inspired one shot, just tired the next!

### Matt "Little Matt" Shackleton

"Shackled himself to the Great Dictator, obviously winning wasn't important to him, despite being one of the best players at the club!

### Suzanne "Multi-Tasker" Oulton

Known for telling you 5 stories concurrently & finishing none! a Whirling dervish of enthusiasm & over commitment to doing too many things!

### Billie "Cripple" Garbett

Flimsy knee's was his issue but also able to damage himself anywhere (broken hand at 5 a-side?). Overcame all this to become a really good player, so obviously stopped playing altogether!

### Gavin "Master" Bates

Most players are remembered for their style of play or shots, Gavin, however, was just a really nice guy & raconteur, who happened to be at badminton!

### Steve "Solo" Larkin

Renown for practicing alone without a shuttle, he made it look so easy! A really nice player with a very competitive edge.
